Case study - Software for the management and trading of precious metals

Overview

VON GREYERZ AG operates a software solution consisting of a customer portal and backend for managing and controlling the trading and storage of precious metals. The task was to update the backend and customer portal to the current versions of the Laravel framework.

However, this was not straightforward due to several major versions and various dependencies between the deployed and the current version of Laravel.

After the initial analysis of the existing structure, the customer portal was first updated step by step. Subsequently, the backend code was fully migrated to a new installation based on the latest available Laravel release. During this process, various code sections were revised and rewritten using new available features (e.g., Flysystem, Notifiers, Middleware, etc.). Interim changes made to the live system were also migrated into the new code.

Following the successful completion of the migration, the client commissioned further work, including redesigning the onboarding process for new customers in the customer portal and the ongoing maintenance and implementation of new features.
